Pre- and post-AUM

You may want to consider coming early or extending your stay to include pre- or post-AUM activities, described below:

rom August 5 through August 8, 2014, UNM-Taos will be hosting a Sustainability Institute providing an innovative, multi-day seminar and workshop focused on Sustainability and Humanitarian Design.

Sustainability Institute

The University of New Mexico Taos will be hosting a Sustainability Institute August 5-8 to showcase effective, sustainable, humanitarian design. There will be lectures, movies, and workshops with seven speakers from around the world. A central focus of the event will be the importance of community involvement as a major ingredient to a productive, positive future. The event overlaps with AUM, but you can attend one, two, or three days of the sustainability workshop and still come to the AUM!

Savitri Immersion

Savitri Solar Dome

Following the AUM, Rod Hemsell will lead a Savitri Immersion workshop called "Evolutionary spirituality and Savitri: The mantric poetry of Sri Aurobindo." The workshop will take place from August 11–16 at the Sri Aurobindo Learning Center in Crestone, Colorado, a three-hour drive north of Taos.

"Through Yoga we learn to draw back from preoccupations with the forms of things to their essences, and through their universal essences we can perceive their divine origin. When we do that we are on the path of spiritual transformation. The mantric transmissions of Savitri create the bridge above mind to the overmind illuminations that bring the path to its goal."

A description of the workshop is here: www.collaboration.org/aum/2014/savitri-immersion.pdf
