Dear Friend of Auroville,

To sustain the future of Auroville, "the City the Earth Needs," Auroville International USA (AVI USA) and the Foundation for World Education (FWE) are joining together to establish an estate planning program.

By entering into this work, we are creating a way for those who believe in Auroville to review information regarding Wills, Trusts and other estate planning tools and to make plans in a private and conscious atmosphere. We are also making a long-term commitment to help form a stream of future support for Auroville, the Mother’s City.

We believe that a gift of any size, given with sincerity and openness, has great symbolic value in the cosmos — as well as immense practical value in the material world. This is the spirit in which AVI USA and FWE have established The Auroville Planned Giving Program.

Together, AVI USA and FWE offer two complementary possibilities for your estate planning wishes. Gifts can be directed to Auroville through AVI USA for the general support of Auroville or for designated projects. Gifts can also go to the FWE Auroville Endowment Fund, which would grant interest income to Auroville in perpetuity.

AVI USA and FWE cannot act as your attorney and cannot prepare a Will or Trust for you, the law doesn’t allow that. However, we can provide you with straightforward information — in clear language — about the many ways in which small, medium or large estates can be organized to pass to the next generation with minimum burden to your heirs and with great positive impact for the world changing experiment taking place in Auroville.

The information we have gathered will familiarize you with the vocabulary and concepts of estate planning so that you can ask the right questions of your lawyer, accountant or financial advisor.

We have enclosed a fact sheet on estate planning tools and a reply card for you to request more information to review at your leisure. We have also enclosed a booklet that illustrates Auroville’s unique projects and aims. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
