Wendy Lines Wendy was accepted by The Mother to be a member of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Auroville in 1970. She lived there until 1976 and began her practice of hatha yoga and meditative movement. She now teaches hatha yoga at Matagiri Studio, where she resides with her husband and playful pet Shanti. Together they help with numerous activities at Matagiri which is across the road from the Studio. Julian Lines Julian has been involved with many activities and organizations related to the Integral Yoga, and has organized AUM conferences in the past. Julian first visited Auroville in 1974 and has been involved with the community ever since. Julian and Wendy are the East Coast contact for Auroville International, a storefront for Auroville handicrafts, books and incense; a networking center for experiments in spiritual community (land trusts and local currency), and a mail order outlet for Woodstock Festival memorabilia (Woodstock Spirit). Julian and Wendy are involved in special fund-raising projects, such as the Pavilion of Tibetan Culture, and the Nakashima Altar to Peace. The international flavor of Auroville's handicrafts manifests in the varied designs and styles of hand-painted silks, beaded belts and pouches, handmade paper stationery, flower candles, statuary and hand-tooled leather. Julian and Wendy write: "We share Sri Aurobindo's vision of an evolving humanity which should integrate spirituality into every facet of life." |
